Description

This app answers the two basic questions facing radio amateurs:- Which band shall I use right now? Where shall I point my beam right now ? It will also interest anyone who wants to study radio propagation and the ionosphere. This app plots radio transmission paths observed in real-time on a world map which can be centered either on the Atlantic or the Pacific. It also plots the greyline and displays current Space Weather indexes and may optionally plot Aurora ovals. It can be configured to make voice alerts for band openings Performance of individual stations may be monitored. This FREE app is memory hungry and may not work on your device. PLEASE do not downgrade if it crashes because this does not help the 99 percent of users whose devices do support it. Instead look at what other memory hungry apps you have and decide to remove them. To understand this app you need to read the FAQ which is launched from the menu. The FAQ item is near the bottom of the Menu list. The data is provided by the WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter pronounced 'whisper') system which is designed for probing radio propagation paths using low-power beacon-like transmissions from Radio Amateurs. WSPR signals convey only a callsign, grid locator and sending power level. Receiving stations with internet access automatically upload reception reports to the central WSPR database.
